I first encountered Douglas Rushkoff when watching DMT: The Spirit Molecule some years ago. The thing that struck me about him was the fact that he is one of the few smiling faces in that documentary. Many interviewees have a very serious, grave, or introverted facial expression – an expression of cheerlessness that is reminiscent of the look of Jim Jones during his final speeches. Those interviewees reflect how the ancient principles of religious dogmatism penetrate the world of new age spiritualism. Douglas Rushkoff is a positive, open-minded counterpart. In these little interviews he speaks a lot of truth while obviously spreading a good, life-affirming vibe. As most of his statements did not make it into the actual documentary I created this playlist and dubbed it Douglas Rushkoff About The Risk Of Taking Things Too Serious.
